Help Protect the Hallowed Ground of Gettysburg
Thank you for your interest in helping protect the hallowed ground of Gettysburg, but this alert is no longer active.
UPDATE: 4/14/2011--The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) has denied the application to operate a casino near Gettysburg National Military Park! The license was instead awarded to an applicant in southwestern PA at Nemacolin.
This marks the culmination of the second fight to stop the licensing of a casino near one of our nation’s most sacred places. There is no doubt that the widespread public opposition, including a letter from 275 prominent historians, more than 13,000 letters of opposition from NPCA members and supporters and a petition signed by over 30,000 Americans, weighed heavily in the PGCB’s decision.
Consider taking action on other issues.
Ask Congress to Provide Hurricane Relief for National Parks and Park Communities
National parks were hit hard during Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. Tell Congress to include our national parks in any federal disaster relief funding package, so they can reopen sooner, support local economies and be more resilient in future storms.
Congress: Support the National Park Service Legacy Act
Raising entrance fees is not the solution to addressing the $11.3 billion repair backlog, but passing the bipartisan National Park Service Legacy Act is. Urge Congress to pass this bill that provides dedicated funding to fix our parks!
Do Not Weaken Rules for Drilling in Parks!
Tell Secretary Zinke that he must keep his promise to protect our parks -- including their air, water and wildlife -- by not rescinding, suspending or revising the National Park Service rules for oil and gas operations.
